There is no fee for schools to charter. Simply submit the online application and we'll help you get started!

When you're ready to induct, note that the student membership cost is a flat, one-time fee of $25. Students remain members as long as they are in good standing at the school in which they are attending. They may also transfer their membership at no charge to another NTHS chartered school once they have met the criteria that school has established. Graduation accessories such as honor cords and stoles are available at an additional cost through our online catalog.

Just fill out the charter application after the head of your institution approves your participation. There is no cost to your school to establish a charter. If you are unable to complete this form electronically, please call 800-801-7090.  To have your charter framed, please call for pricing.

The minimum GPA is a 3.0. However, the national average is 3.50 - 3.75. Many schools will also look at credit hours completed, attendance, disciplinary records, and CTSO (Career & Technical Student Organizations) membership.

NTHS accepts school registration submissions all year. Many secondary school chapters induct seniors in the fall and juniors in the spring to allow time to apply for scholarships prior to graduating. The NTHS Jon H. Poteat scholarship enrollment period opens September 1st of each calendar year and closes midnight April 20th of the following year.

The role of an advisor is simple. Identify students who meet your criteria, invite them to an informational meeting, enter their information online, and hold a simple induction ceremony. We provide a checklist of what to cover at the meeting as well as a script to use at the induction. We are here to help you every step of the way. Just call!

Click on "Login" at the upper right hand corner and enter the advisor username which is the school's NTHS chapter account number with the letter 'S' and the number 'zero' before the 4-digit account number. Use the Forgot Password function if you do not know your password.  It will be immediately sent to the primary advisor's email as long as we have the accurate address on file.

The one-time membership fee is $25. Included will be a custom certificate, presentation folder, general letter of recommendation for the student's portfolio, member pin, diploma seal, decal and white graduation tassel with the NTHS drop.

Other membership benefits include three custom letters of recommendation, access to the Online Career Center, and eligiblity to apply for scholarships.

You may enter names without going through the checkout cart. Simply return to the same place to add more members, complete any previous missing information, and check out through the shopping cart.

On membership:

We do not charge ground shipping for memberships; however a flat $10.00 processing charge will be implemented on all membership orders. This fee is per invoice, not per member. We encourage you to complete your registration process for as many members as possible at one time. You may enter names at intervals and then process all at once. If you would like your shipment sent air, additional charges will be applied.

On merchandise:

Shipping charges are calculated at checkout, depending on the total amount of your order. If expedited shipping is requested, charges will be applied at final checkout.

Please allow about a two week turnaround from the date your order is placed online to the actual ceremony. We will ship well within that time frame, allowing for you to prepare the materials.

NTHS student members may request three letters of
recommendation up to one year after graduation. These will be mailed directly to a potential employer, an admissions registrar or a scholarship committee.

NTHS alumni members may request three letters of recommendation during their one year membership, and with each year’s renewal of membership.

Members will need to click on login and enter their NTHS member ID & password. This will bring up a menu to the left where they can apply for Jon H. Poteat Scholarships, request letters of recommendation, update their contact information, and access the Online Career Center.

To apply for scholarships with our CTSO partners, click on the "Scholarships" Tab under the "Member Resources" menu bar, scroll down to view each CTSO, and click on their link. Each organization oversees these scholarships and the applications can be found on their respective websites.

As soon as your induction and ceremonial materials arrive, please open immediately to be sure you have accurately received all requested items. You may format your own significant ceremony or log into the secure advisor help desk and check out the sample induction script and ceremony tips.

A NTHS Student Member is a student currently enrolled in school who has been nominated to be inducted into NTHS. A NTHS Honorary Member is an individual or organization in your community or at your school who has been instrumental in supporting your NTHS members.

When logged into the secure advisor section to submit orders through the online shopping cart, the payment option choices include purchase order or credit card. If you will be paying with a school check, please choose Purchase Order and enter N/A or the word "check" in the next required field. We will mail an invoice to your A/P Dept. with Net 30 Terms to remit payment. NTHS no longer accepts personal checks.  We do accept money orders, school checks, Master Card, Visa & Amex for payment.
Finance charges of 1.5% per month will be added to all past due balances. Statements of Account are mailed or emailed once a month. If you have bookkeeping questions, please contact Christy Swift or April Galloway.

Click 'Log in' at the upper right hand corner at www.nths.org.  Enter the user name, (the email address entered when registered), which is printed on your membership card. A link to create a password was sent to your email address. If you do not know your password, use the Forgot Password function and a link to create a new one will be emailed.

A NTHS Student Member is a student currently enrolled in school who has been inducted into NTHS. Online student benefits are good for up to one year after graduation. An Alumni Member is a previously inducted member who, one year after their graduation date, wishes to continue their professional development with NTHS support by joining the Alumni Association.

Log in and go to Letters of Recommendation under “Member NTHS”.  Print and save the general letter of recommendation for your portfolio.  Up to one year after graduation, you can continue to print general letters as needed, and request custom letters for a potential employer, an admissions counselor or a scholarship committee. Letters are mailed directly from the national office to the person’s attention to whom the letter is addressed.
