Current NTHS members who have not graduated are eligible to apply for the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship.

In 2018, NTHS will award 225 Jon H. Poteat scholarships.  Each Jon H. Poteat Scholarship is a one-time payment of one thousand dollars to the accredited school/program of choice.

The online application is available from September 1 - April 20 each year.  Eligible applicants must log in as current NTHS members at www.nths.org to complete the simple three minute application process.

We know you are busy so we created the easiest possible scholarship application to benefit our members.  This painless process requires NO essay, NO letter of recommendation and NO long, tedious application form.  After logging in and clicking on the JHP application link at www.nths.org, your pre-filled application form will load.  To complete the application, you will:

  1. Verify or update the displayed personal information
  2. Read and agree to the disclaimer
  3. Click the Send button

That’s it!  Applying for the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship will probably require the same amount of time it took you to read this FAQ section.

Your Username (the email address entered during registration) is listed on your NTHS membership card.  If you do not know your password, please use the Forgot Password function at the top of our website.  Follow the prompts to receive an email with a one-time link to log in and reset your password.  Should you need further assistance, please contact us directly.

The online application shuts down automatically at 11:59 p.m. EST on April 20th and cannot be reopened.  Please plan to complete your application early to avoid any unexpected delays or dilemmas.  Late applications will not be accepted and there will be no exceptions.

We strongly encourage our sophomore, junior and senior NTHS members to apply for the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship each year.  If chosen as a recipient, NTHS will hold the funds in trust for up to three years.

Eligible post-secondary NTHS members are encouraged to apply for the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship.  Those who are close to program completion / graduation may apply if he/she has not graduated before the application window of September 1, 2017 and April 20, 2018.

We believe that all NTHS members are qualified scholarship candidates.  The Jon H. Poteat Scholarship recipients are chosen by computer generated random selection software, which levels the playing field for all applicants.   NTHS also offers a number of merit scholarships.  For a complete list of scholarship offerings, please visit our scholarship page.

The Jon H. Poteat Scholarship is classified as an educational scholarship.  Funds are made payable towards tuition to most colleges, universities and accredited online programs.  The NTHS Scholarship Foundation reserves the right of discretion to determine accreditation credentials of usage request(s).  Scholarship monies shall never be paid, nor refunded, directly to an individual.
